Accelerate is an upcoming one-day StepManiaX tournament hosted at the Dave and Busters location in Schaumburg, Illinois. It is being organized by Twans and is scheduled to run on Saturday, September 12th, 2026.

Bringing a StepManiaX tournament to the greater Chicago area following last year’s Dash Dance event in Gurnee, Accelerate is also (to my knowledge) the first StepManiaX tournament to be formally hosted at a Dave and Busters location. Dave and Busters began to incorporate SMX into their arcade lineup three years ago beginning with a Des Moines, IA location and has since included a machine with all new locations opening worldwide.
The greater Chicago region’s dance game scene is tightly knit socially and home to many exceptional players, so I have confidence that Accelerate will be a good time and a competitive tournament for its attendees.
The event’s start.gg page includes a link to an event Discord server and resources pertinent to interested competitors, such as a qualifier form and a yet-to-be shared rules document. It is recommended on the event page to join the event Discord server for updates.

I’m excited for this tournament and will be following it closely. Knowing that the logistics have been in the works for some time now, I’m hopeful it can be a great blueprint for future tournaments run at Dave and Busters locations.
